It operates on a fully commercialised basis in competition with its private sector counterparts. It employs more than 450 permanent staff and manages some of the largest bureau operations and communication networks in New Zealand. With revenues for the current year well in excess of $7O million, it is one of the top 3-4 organisations in its field in the country. Opportunities currently exist to join the organisation at a senior level as it repositions and reorganises to reflect its new mode of operation. ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER — BUREAU SERVICES We require a top-flight executive with extensive experience in the information processing industry to take responsibility for the total management of the Government Computing Service bureau activities. The agency currently operates four large bureau, each supporting nation-wide networks for a number of clients. There is a wide variety of vendors’ equipment in operation at the centres and on the networks. The bureau operation currently employs approximately 300 staff, of which around 50% are involved in developing and maintaining software for clients. MANAGER — CONSULTANCY SERVICES We require a manager with proven management skills and extensive practical consulting experience in the information technology field to take charge of our consultancy services branch. The branch provides consultancy services on a commercial basis to a wide range of clients. In addition to advising clients on the optimum utilisation of technology to meet their business needs, the group also provides information analysis and data modelling services, assists with the evaluation of tenders, and is at an advanced stage with the application of knowledge-based systems techniques.lnitially the appointee will report directly to the General Manager. MANAGER — MARKETING We are seeking a person with extensive experience in the information dissemination and publicity business. The appointee will be responsible for promoting the organisation, its products and its services to existing and potential clients and other publics.
