Some workers were too afraid to report that they were suffering from repetitive strain injury because they feared they would lose their jobs, according to a Brisbane university professor. Professor Jerzy Sikorski, said there were employers who refused to recognise the existe&e of R.S.I.
“Some employers regard it as some sort of hysterical, psychologi-cally-based attack on the work ethic,” he said. Professor Sikorski, from the University of Queensland’s division of orthopaedic surgery, is heading a study to classify the different types of R.S.I. in 300 sufferers. He said R.S.I. was a major medical problem for 5 to 10 per cent of sufferers.
