Sir, —A claim in T. R. Loudon’s letter (January 24) that the Campaign for a Soviet-Free New Zealand organisation “willingly shares information with virtually every pro-liberty group in the country,” provokes only cynical humourless mirth as the term “pro-liberty groups” is verbal camouflage for the extreme political Right in this country. He also has it wrong about “our American allies.” The Reagan Administration has made it transparently clear that, by our nuclear ships ban policy, we have forfeited our alliance with the United States. A clear case of a relationship’s denial confirmed by word and deed. The egregious folly of the fatuous aims of T. R. Loudon’s Campaign for a SovietFree New Zealand is underscored by the report in “The Press” on January 24: “N.Z.Soviet butter sale threatened by E.E.C. dumping.” New Zealand does not need the invitation to commercial self-destruction offered by T. R. Loudon’s organisation; it does desperately need its Soviet trade. — Yours, etc., M. CREEL. January 26, 1987.
