‘The Ghost’
By
SELENA WARD
aged 10, of Nelson
Hello my name is Selena and I’m only two-years-old. When it was my birthday I asked if I could have a pet ghost. Mum and Dad said, "No,” because it would scare the wits out of Grandma, and Grandma wouldn’t like that.
So Mum and Dad didn’t get me one. In the morning Dad went to work, and I went to play-centre. Mum came too.
When we got home Dad was coming in the door. I ran up to him and gave him a hug.
Dad said, “Do you want a lolly?” I said, “Yes please." He pulled out a chocolate ghost. Inside was marshmallow and on top of the chocolate was coconut.
I gobbled it up. It was yummy.
The next day Dad went to work and I went to play-centre. When we got home I* ran up to Daddy and I stopped with amazement. He had a big box and on the side of the big box was a sign. It read: “Glimdrop the ghost.” I hugged Dad and Miim. Now I have a ghost of my own and I scare Grandma each time she comes around.
