Approval given

Approval for a $500,000 three-year-old series and a $400,000 two-year-old series for standardbreds, to be organised by the National Bloodstock Corporation, has been given by the executive of the New Zealand Trotting Conference. Announcing the decision yesterday, the Chief Executive Officer of the Conference, Mr lan Mill, said the three-year-old series will be run In May-July, 1991. The two-year-old series is to be run in MarchApril, next year, with stallion nominations for both series closing on February 20, this year.

The stakes for the three-year-olds are to be split up into three categories — $250,909 for pacing colts and geldings, $140,000 for pacing fillies, and $llO,OOO for trotters.

The two-year-old series will also be broken up in to the same three categories.
