Jaycees offer Japan trip
A free two-week trip to Japan is being offered to a “young ambassador” by the New Zealand and Japan Jaycees. The “Japan Jaycees Asian Youth Voyage” is open to those aged between 20 and 30.
The national secretary of the New Zealand Jaycees, Mr Bill Campbell, said one person who could best “sell New Zealand to the Japanese” would be chosen to represent New Zealand on the Asian voyage.
The successful applicant would have to have a good knowledge of New Zealand and Japan. They would have to take part in a series of panel interviews on a regional, area, and national basis. “The Japanese have a different culture and are easily offended. It is important the right person is chosen,” said Mr Campbell.
New Zealand’s repre-
sentative would fly to Japan on June 12, joining 39 other representatives from 19 countries, and stay with a Japanese family until June 16 then fly from Narita to Guam.
The party would board the Coral Princess in Guam and sail to Hong Kong. Various workshops would be held during the
cruise. The voyage would end on June 25.
All expenses would be paid, except for personal spending. Application forms are available from Mr Brian Steele, phone Kaiapol 7420 and Mrs Elizabeth Small, phone Belfast 7031. The forms should be completed and returned by January 19.
