Paul Davies resigns
Mr Paul Davies, the manager of the standardbred division of Wrightson Bloodstock for 10 years before it was announced last month that National Bloodstock had purchased the division, has resigned from the company.
Mr Davies was appointed general manager of the new concern, however, approval for the sale of Wrightson Bloodstock standardbred division has been delayed by the Commerce Commission.
“Wrightson Bloodstock will still conduct the National and Great Northern Sales this year, due to the delay in the
take-over, and I will remain as an assistant to Wrightson Bloodstock during the two sales. I feel I have a loyalty to my vendors and a fairness to my staff,” Mr Davies said yesterday. Mr Davies has no immediate plans for future
work until after the two sales have finished. “It is obvious the harness racing industry wants a private independent sale,” he said. Mr Davies has worked for Wrightson Bloodstock since 1963. Last year he
was named New Zealand Trotting Personality of the Year for his work in promoting the New Zealand standardbred.
