Father to sue Tom Scott
PA Wellington The father of the political columnist and satirist, Tom Scott, says he is planning legal action against his son after a television programme shown last Friday. Mr Tom Scott, sen. said he was angry about the programme and wanted an apology and damages from his son and Television New Zealand.
The programme, “On The Couch,” which is shown on Television One, is billed as a series which takes a look behind the public images of wellknown New Zealanders. Last Friday’s pro-
gramme was titled “Who Is The Real Tom Scott?” In it, Tom Scott, jun. was questioned by a psychiatrist and related several anecdotes about his father. Mr Scott said he had spoken to his son about the programme, but had been given no explanation so had told him that he would hear from his lawyers. Tom Scott said he had had his “turn on television.”
“Everything I had to say I said on television and I’ve nothing further to add at this stage,” he said.
