Creation and evolution
' Sir,—l appreciated the humorous caption under the photograph of the ape, “Am I my keeper’s brother?” (December 30). The answer, of course, is “Yes, if the keeper is an extreme evolutionist.” Seriously, the article associated with the photograph was an unfair attack on the concept of a Creator and biased in favour of extreme evolutionist views. However, the Gallup poll results quoted showed that the majority of people surveyed opposed extreme evolutionism, and this reflects the views of increasing numbers of scientists, to whom it is clear that random processes could never produce life, and natural selection could never increase the complexity of organisms to the extent claimed. Logic and statistics suggest that life could never have eventuated without the operations of a higher intelligence Creator. How else could order come from chaos, or the mind and conscience of humans come about? Evolutionism requires greater miracles, without the aid of a miracle worker. — Yours, etc., JOHN CANHAM. December 31, 1986.
