The Canterbury side had a win and a loss when the girls under-19 national tournament began in Auckland. Canterbury led Counties, 50, at the top of the first innings, but a combination of errors under pressure and good batting eventually gave Counties a 10-5 victory. Canterbury’s .Debbie Hohepa in centre field was outstanding. Later Canterbury had a solid 14-6 win over Bay of Plenty, scoring nine runs in its second turn at bat.
