Phoenix title to Chch two
Andy Holland and Wayne Mawson, ot Christchurch, sailed to a narrow victory in Holy Smoke when the national Phoenix class yacht-; Ing championships ended at Pigeon Bay yesterday. . All the top three crews’ scored two wins each in the series of seven races. Second placed was a father-and-sou combination, Neil and Alex Aitken, sailing Monarch. Aitken, a Burnside High School fifth former, was also the runner-up in the nationals at Auckland last year. Competitors in the fleet spanned 51 years with a 60-year-old, Lindsay Fraser, and a nine-year-old taking part - Results (Christchurch crews unless stated):— Andy Holland and Wayne Mawson (Holy Smoke), 14.0 points, 1; Neil Aitken and Alex Aitken (Monarch), 17.4, 2; Russell Dawdle and Glen Treleaven (Rainbow), 30.4, 3; Lindsay Fraser and Michael Dickie (Growly Bear), 47.4, 4; Robert Van Peer and Diana Van Peer, 53.7, 5; Tom Arthur and Michelle Sinclair (Titanic), 59.4, 6; Robert Norris and Rachel Norris (Hot Gossip), 72.7, 7; Tony Smith and Daryl Sherwood (Jezebel), Wellington, 73.7,8.*
