Rambo to be ‘significantly more linear’

NZPA Beverly Hills Sylvester Stallone, indicating Rambo may be less violent in the future, has agreed to give Carolco Pictures, Inc., the United States home-video and foreign distribution rights for his next 10 feature films. Stallone said the 10 films more than likely would all be action-adven-ture movies. “When I’ve strayed from that particular venue I’ve always been disappointed with the results,” he said. The actor also indicated that the Rambo character, which came under much criticism for his violent nature in “Rambo: First Blood Part 2,” may be toned down in future movies. “We got into a fantasy

thing. I’d like to draw back and try to become significantly more linear arid not go into so much fantasy,” he said. Under the rights agreement, which includes five films starring Stallone and five films produced by him, Carolco will pay Stallone’s White Eagle Enterprises up to $125 million for financing the 10 films. Stallone had previously signed a multi-million-dollar deal giving United Artists theatrical distribution rights in the United States. White Eagle will also receive 140,500 shares of Carolco Pictures stock and will buy 12 per cent of Carolco’s controlling interest in International Video Entertainment, a distributor of videocassettes.
