New Honda warranty
All Hondas sold since the beginning of December carry a two-year or 40,000-kilometre warranty and this will be the ongoing policy of the New Zealand Motor Corporation, Ltd, the Honda distributor and assembler, according to its chief executive, Bruce Carson. “The new warranty is permanent and is not a short-term response to market conditions,” he emphasised.
N.Z.M.C. handles Honda primarily, but is also the Austin Rover distributor, as well as Rolls Royce, Bentley and Jaguar franchise-holder. At the end of the first 10 months of this year its market share amounted to 11 per cent, fifth place behind Ford, Toyota, Todd Motors and General Motors, and ahead of Nissan and Mazda.
In October this year, the Honda Civic was last
on the motor industry’s top 10 list, while the Accord did not appear.
According to Mr Carson, the extended warranty is an expression of N.Z.M.C.’s faith in the reliability of Honda cars. It covers Japanese parts as well as local componentry.
The extended warranty is now one of the best deals offered in New Zealand, said Mr Carson.
