Dancing Armbro regaining form
Dancing Armbro proved too strong by winning the Cl and faster trot during the North Canterbury 0.T.8. workouts at Rangiora yesterday. Driven by his usual race driver, Kaylene McCormick, Dancing Armbro sat parked throughout, but was still under a good hold at the end to win by a length in 3:42.4 (2600 m from Nambassa, which just shaded Wynchingham Knight and Joe Junior.
After being forced to miss some racing during the Cup Carnival in November due to a blood disorder, yesterday’s win followed an impressive trials win at Ashburton last Thursday, and the Alias Armbro gelding looks to be getting back to his best.
Adios Omahae only had to register 3:48.1 (2600 m to beat Hindyn by half a length with Prime Minis-
ter a further head away in the C 3 and faster pace. The leaders ran their last 800 in 61s, while the final 400 took 30s.
Debbie’s Chance (Jersey Hanover-Hautore), a promising filly trained at Rangiora by Stan Moore, took time honours in the two-year-old heats when she led throughout to win in 2:44.2 (for 2000 m) from Carnforth and Innovator. The last 800 m was timed in 61.15, while the final 400 took 30.25.
The other heat was won by Premier Award (Locarno-Tiger Queen) :which led throughout to win in 2:56.2, beating Spotty Dee and Irish Mood. The last 800 m of the heat was run in 64.85, while the final 400 took 32.45.
