General forecast: On the West Coast showers becoming more widespread; in Marlborough and Canterbury mainly dry, rain about the western ranges. District forecasts: Canterbury: Showers in the Alps, remaining dry in the east, variable high cloud. Marlborough: Warm north-westerlies, strong in exposed places, considerable high cloud, scattered showers in the west and about the Sounds. Nelson: Moderate northerlies, occasional showers, mild.

Buller: Moderate northerlies, occasional rain, mild. Westland: Moderate winds from the northerly quarter, mostly cloudy, occasional showers. Tomorrow: Occasional showers in the north and west of the North Island and in the southwest of the South Island; dry elsewhere. Extended forecast until Wednesday: Dry and warm until Tuesdsay, then isolated showers with a south-westerly change in the east,-rain and some fresh westerlies in the west.
