United better prepared
United will be prepared for a much closer tussle with Burnside when the two premier men’s softball teams meet tomorrow to decide Canterbury’s representative in the inaugural national league. On their two previous meetings this season the hit count has favoured United by an astounding
18 to three, United winning the first match, 2-1, and the second, 7-0. Provided both teams get through today’s preliminaries safely United will go into the match with a two-point lead in the Dalgety Crown Travel premier competition.
On this occasion, however, much better batting
and fielding is expected from Burnside and the contest should be an enthralling one.
Should United win the 2 p.m. match at Western Park tomorrow then its name will be immediately pencilled on to the draw for the national league to begin on the week-end of February 7 and 8.
