PA Wellington A Labour member of Parliament yesterday queried whether the National Party candidate for East Cape, Mr Wira Gardiner, was involved in raising the now-aborted $6OO million loan for the Maori Affairs Department. Mr Gardiner is a former director of Civil Defence. The Senior Government Whip, Dr Michael Cullen, said that according to an “Evening Post” report of the September 12 letter one of the people assisting Mr Hansen was “a Mr Gardiner”.
