$75,000 stake for mile
The New Brighton Club, along with the other clubs racing at Addington Raceway, has boosted the stake for its feature race, the Television New Zealand Mile, by $25,000 to $75,000, making it equal in value to the Benson and Hedges Free-For-All run last month by the Metropolitan Club. The increase is due to additional funding by the Racing Authority, the sponsor and the club. The feature mile race will be run at the club’s meeting to be held on Saturday, February 14, a fortnight after the Auckland Cup and 14 days before the opening of the Lion Brown InterDominion Championship series.
