Virus group asks for $500,000

PA Auckland The Aids Foundation has asked the Government for $500,000 for a campaign it believes can contain the spread of the disease in New Zealand.

It says intravenous drug use and bisexual activity are main targets for prevention education. The foundation said a significant proportion of people with positive antibodies were “closeted” homosexual and bisexual men.

Such people, it said, posed difficulties for education and prevention campaigns.
