Peter Jones to face charge
The Templeton trainerdriver, Peter Jones, will face a charge on January 16, that he failed to allow Imperial Time to run on his merits when he finished second to Sycamore in the Wyatt and Wilson Handicap at Addington Raceway on November 18.
The Metropolitan Club’s judicial committee met last evening to consider an inquiry adjourned from November 22. Jones was requested to provide an explanation regarding his driving of the horse in the Carthy Nissan Pace as it appeared to be in marked contrast to the
way the horse had been driven on November 18. Jones was questioned about his drive on the day of the meeting on November 18 and his explanation was accepted at the time. After hearing evidence last evening the committee was unanimous that Jones would be charged with failing to run Imperial Time on its merits on November 18. An inquiry was opened and adjourned until January 16 to allow Jones to view or obtain any films or witnesses that he wanted to use or call on his behalf in his defence at the hearing.
