Culverden sale
Buyers from as far afield as Clinton and Oamaru attended a recent sale of more than 1600 head of dairy beef calves and adult cattle at Culverden.
Prices were described by the auctioneers as steady. Good Friesian bull calves reached 5250 and lighter calves were $l5O to $lBO.
Strong buying power was provided by buyers from Mid and South Canterbury. The yarding contained 1312 calves and 330 adults. Sales included.—
Calves: Pahau Reserve Partnership (Culverden), 161 Hereford cross bulls at $l5O to $202, 213 Friesian bulls at Sjf's2 to $2OO, and 150 Here-fofd-Friesian cross heifers at
$l5O to $172; A. D. and G. A. Henning (Culverden), 60 beef cross bulls at $146 to $164, 428 Friesian bulls at $144 to $2lO, and 94 beef cross heifers at $136 to $186; C. A. Burrows and Sons (Culverden), 20 Friesian bulls at $240 to $250; A. and I. Price (Cheviot), 11 Friesian bulls at $164; J. W. and V. M. Richardson (Culverden), 27 Friesian bulls at $144 to $174, and 11 Friesian heifers at $l2O.
Adults: A. F. S. and W. H. Rutherford (Culverden), 27 two-year heifers at $328 to $344; I. N. and D. Tomlinson (Culverden), 20 Angus and Angus cross heifers at $320; Northcote Trust (Waiau), 37 yearling heifers at. $194 to $258, and 7 two-yejAr heifers at $3lB. .
