Pipe band champs on island

It won’t be exactly like Edinburgh Castle, but the castle-like structure to be erected on Haulashore Island during the national pipe band championships, will certainly provide a little atmosphere for the public concert on March 8. The championships will attract some 50 bands and

2000 bandsmen between March 12 and 16.

To publicise the event, a castle facade will be erected at the southernmost point of Haulashore Island. From it, about 20 to 30 pipers will entertain an audience on Wakefield Quay which will be closed to traffic during the hourlong programme between 7.30 p.m. and 8.30 p.m..
