Accommodation and meals provided at station

An original 1880 s homestead provides accommodation and meals for visitors to the Mt Hutt Station Resort.

For dining, there is The Coleridge Room which is open every evening from 6.30 to 8.30, and features modern French cuisine.

Lunches, snacks, and day-trip packs are avail-

able by prior arrangement, and anything caught by sportsmen during the day can be prepared to their taste for the evening meal. Both cooked and continental breakfasts are served from 7.30 a.m., and tea and coffee are available at all times from The Coleridge

Room. Beside the house bar is a reading room and guest lounge, with writing desk, magazines and board games.

There is also a games room at the rear of the homestead, with a pool table, dart board and ski storage area. In-house videos are screened three times a week.

The spa pool is available at any time before 10 p.m.; there is a drying room in the entrance foyer; and the laundry may be used when the house laundry has been done.

A mail service operates to and from the homestead every day but Sunday, and shopping expeditions are made to Methven on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

The homestead is managed by the husband and wife team, Mr and Mrs Robin and Eliza Quinn.

With more than 14 years in the catering business, Robin now specialises in French cuisine.

Mrs Quinn, who looks after the financial side of the operation, says she likes to encourage a relaxed atmosphere in the homestead.

Beside the homestead, there are several serviced units: two quad units — one double and two adjoining single; four double units; and three twin rooms.

The homestead itself accommodates a maximum of 30 people, and at certain times of the year is available for conference parties (maximum 20 people) and functions (maximum 50 people). Courtesy transport for guest arrivals and departures to Methven are. provided, and Christchurch transport by air or road is available at a surcharge. Bookings are essential, and there must be a minimum of four people.
