Consumer Affairs head appointed
PA Wellington The Ministry of Consumer Affairs will be headed by Ms Elizabeth Sewell. Ms Sewell joined the Trade and Industry Department in 1985 as director of the Consumer Affairs Unit, heading a team which reported to the Government on the structure and functions of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs. Before joining Trade and Industry, Ms Sewell
ran her own business for 10 years, which was sold when she moved to Wellington. In Wellington she was employed by the former member of Parliament for Waipa, Ms Marilyn Waring, as her personal assistant before taking up the post of national executive director of the Y.W.C.A. Ms Sewell’s first task will be to appoint the Ministry’s staff.
