Gang projects backed
PA Auckland Community-based projects initiated by gangs will continue to get the support of New Zealand’s largest city council. The Manukau City Council yesterday decided at an emergency meeting to throw its weight behind gang projects, particularly Government work schemes.
Earlier, the Auckland Regional Authority said it would reconsider employing gang work trusts, after the alleged rape of a young Mangere woman during the recent Mongrel Mob convention. The A.R.A.’s parks committee chairman, Mr Allan Brewster, wants the authority to reconsider using gangs on work projects.
