NZPA-AFP Singapore A businessman who locked his Sri Lankan maid in his apartment for three weeks while he was away on holiday was fined SUSI2O ($240) by a lower court for committing a rash act. Vasanmal Murlie, aged 47, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of endangering the life of Wimalawathie Hitapu by locking both the front and back doors of his apartment without giving the keys to the maid while he and his family were on holiday in the United States in May.
