Consulate bombing arrests
NZPA-Reuter Sydney Four men and three women have been arrested in Canberra and Sydney in connection with a car-bomb explosion outside the Turkish Consulate in Melbourne, the police said yesterday. The fragmented remains of a person, believed to be the bomber, were found after the explosion, which extensively damaged the five-storey building on Sunday. The police have yet to identify the dead person. All the seven people arrested during overnight raids were Armenians. Soon after the bombing, a group calling itself the Greek-Bulgarian-Ar-menian Front telephoned an international news agency in Sydney claiming responsibility, and said there would be more attacks. The caller listed a number of grievances against Turkey, including the creation of a Turkish republic in Cyprus.
