M.P. stays with electorate
PA Wellington The National member of Parliament, Dr Lockwood Smith, said he would stay with the redrawn Kaipara electorate at the next General Election. Dr Smith said more than half the population of his present Kaipara seat would move into Hobson under new boundaries, and he would not have had to be reselected for Hobson.
However, he said that if he opted for that choice he would have to drive more than half an hour from his Matakohe home, in the new Kaipara, to reach the Hobson boundary.
