Police disciplined for losing security file

PA Wellington Four policemen have been disciplined for the security breach where a diplomatic squad folder slid off the roof of their car. • The Wellington District Police Commander, Mr Peter Mairs, said two men had been counselled, as well as being warned that

“any repetition of such inefficiency” could lead to further disciplinary action. A copy of the warning was to be attached to their records. A third man involved in the security breach had also been counselled, with a copy of the counselling attached to his records. The fourth man had only been counselled, said

Mr Mairs. He would not release the names of the four police, saying it would not be fair for them to be identified. The folder was lost on September 25 and was the subject of a report by the Deputy Police Commissioner, Mr Mai Churches, to the Minister of Police, Mrs Hercus.
