Term as chairman a record?

PA Masterton Mr Harry Kershaw, reelected as chairman of the Wairarapa Power Board for the twenty-ni-neth year, may be -the longest-serving power board chairman in New Zealand. But possibly beating a record meant less to him, he said, than the confidence the board had shown in re-electing him. It is known that Mr Roy Murdoch served as chairman of North Auckland Power Board for 28 years. Mr Kershaw was elected to the board in 1950 and became chairman in 1958, following the example of his father who was chairman from 1924 until he died in 1931. He said he would continue to serve as chairman for as long as he was fit and mentally able.
