Apprentice injured

The promising North Canterbury apprentice, Kate Crowe, was in a “fair condition” last evening after suffering head injuries in a fall at Motukarara on Saturday.' Crowe’s mount, Wanda Girl, fell near the finish of the Alastair Munro Maiden, rolling onto her. Wanda Girl was racing on the outside of Claudio’s Satin (Jan Cameron) and on the inside of Comparable (Tane Matthews) and Meadow Maid (Paul Richards) when the incident occurred, about 200 m from the finish of the 1400 m event. An inquiry into the incident was adjourned until further evidence could be heard. The next event, the Jackpots Promotions Three-year-old Handicap, was delayed by 15 minutes to allow the ambulance taking Crowe to hospital time to return to the course.
