Anti-apartheid action
NZPA-Reuter Mexico City The World Boxing Council has announced new measures in opposi-. tion to South Africa’s apartheid system. In a statement issued after the boxing body’s annnual convention, the president, Mr Jose Sulaiman, described South Africa’s apartheid policies as “unworthy and despicable, an unspeakable af-
front to human dignity.” He said the council would break relations for two years with any manager, promoter or agent who promoted boxing in South Africa in any form. Any champion who fought in South Africa would be dethroned and any other boxer who did so would not be ranked by the council for two years, said Mr Sulaiman.
