Christmas flight delays expected
PA Auckland Rescheduled and delayed flights can be expected at Christmas because air traffic controllers at Auckland Airport say they can not keep up with increasing work. A severe shortage of controllers and increase in holiday air traffic meant controllers were handling three times
more aircraft than they should. The pressure was taking its toll on their health, making the airport less safe, said a spokesman for the controllers, Mr Paul Robinson. Many were failing their medical tests because of stress-related problems and could not easily be replaced, he said.
