Poison probe

PA Auckland Otahuhu detectives are investigating a suggestion that two children who needed hospital treatment after swallowing weedkiller in their home may have been given the poison.

The children, from Mangere, were treated on Saturday evening at Auckland Hospital and discharged — but a police

inquiry continued all day yesterday and more investigations into the circumstances of the poisoning are likely. Detective Sergeant Andy Lovelock, of the Otahuhu C. 1.8. said a statement would be made this morning about the inquiry.

In the early stages of the inquiry, the police had also been investigating a domestic dispute.
