River search for woman
A search of the Waimakariri River may be resumed this morning after reports that a young woman was seen in difficulties in the water late yesterday afternoon.
A big search by the police and rescue personnel was started after a whitebaiter reported see-
ing a woman in the river near the old Waimakariri road bridge about 5 p.m. The helicopters used in the search for missing canoeists off Sumner beach were re-routed and made sweeps of the river.
Searchers also dragged areas of the river.
