‘Abduction’ false
PA Hamilton A complaint of abduction by a Huntly girl, aged 12, proved to be false, said Detective Chief Inspector Rex Miller yesterday. The girl laid the complaint two days ago, but the police did not release information to the news media in case it prejudiced their inquiries.
Mr Miller said police officers spent 35 hours investigating the complaint and discovered that the girl had made the story up to cover her late arrival home. The girl claimed she had been abducted by a group of men and held for several hours. She would be dealt with by the police youth aid section, said.
