The Zonta Club of Christchurch-Canterbury last evening gave $12,000 worth of goods and cash to the Diabetes Centre during a function at the Cornerstone Restaurant in Sumner. Ten glucometers (blood glucose testers) were given on behalf of Miles Medical Laboratories and a cash sum was given from profits made by the Zonta Club for arranging race sponsorships at Riccarton racecourse. At the presentation are, from left, Margaret Fazackerley, a nurse educator at the Diabetes Centre, with a glucometer; Kim Pettengell, of the Miles laboratory; Marion Ruthven, president of the Zonta Club of Christchurch-Canterbury; Annette Prier, chairman of the Zonta fund-raising committee; and Professor Don Heaven, a diabetes physician at the Christchurch Clinical School.
