Fears for missing tourist
PA Hamilton The disappearance of a young Danish tourist last seen in Hamilton about October 5 is worrying the police. Constable Tony Easter said yesterday that the police had recovered some property belonging to Mr Karsten Steen, aged 20, from the banks of the Waikato River. The property included a passport, a substantial
amount of New Zealand and Danish currency, and some clothing, Constable Easter said. The police would have expected Mr Steeen to have approached' them about the missing property and because he had not they were concerned about his safety, he said. He arrived in Hamilton about September 28, and has fair hair, blue eyes, and is 187 cm (6ft
tall. Constable Easter said Mr Steen spoke fairly good English. The police had approached the Danish Consulate, which had in turn telephoned the Danish police, who were also concerned about the man’s safety. Constable Easter said the police appealed to anyone who may have seen Mr Steen on or since October 5 to tell them.
