Refinement to 1-2-3
The Lotus Development Corporation has announced technical improvements to its spreadsheet, Lotus 1-2-3. Mr Dan McMillan, vicepresident and general manager of the business products division of Lotus, said. “The new release of 1-2-3 is an important step in the careful evolution of that product and underscores Lotus’s commitment to technical excellence.”
Soon to be available in New Zealand through Imagineering Micro-Dis-tributors, Ltd, the new version, Release 2.01, is compatible with both 1-2-3 Release 2 and Release IA. It is designed to work on the IBM PC and compatible personal computers. According to Imagineering’s Product Manager, Richard Dyson, Lotus is also working on several additional versions of 1-2-3 2.01 for the following personal computers: the Wang Professional and Advanced Professional computers, the DEC Rainbow family, the Hewlett-Packard 150, and the IBM-PC convertible. Release 2 of 1-2-3, introduced in September last year, was the first significant upgrade of 1-2-
3 since the product’s original release in January 1983, he said. Release 2.01 improved compatibility with Release IA. It was designed not to affect adjustments customers might have made to convert their worksheets from Release 1A to Release 2. The new version has a simplified installation procedure, a new display driver allowing on-screen graphics display of ASCII codes above 127, a faster file retrieve time, and faster recalculation.
The update will cost $45.
