Dragon trouble
By BRENT MILLAR, aged 10
One day I was in the park on a swing. I spotted an egg. It looked funny from a distance. I got off the swing and went over to the slide. I picked up the egg, it was glowing like a torch. I had never seen anything like it. I ran home and showed it to my dad. He said it was a dragon’s egg and that it was worth lots of money. I thought, “I could be rich, but then again I would be famous if I kept it.”
It was getting towards my bedtime. I put the egg in a jar and put it on top of my cupboard. I went to the toilet, then I got into bed.
In the morning I went downstairs and turned on TV. On it was a picture about dragons. I just remembered my egg. I rushed upstairs and
looked in the jar. There were two fluffy things. I ran through to dad’s room and jumped on his bed. I yelled in his ear, “The egg’s hatched.” Dad jumped out of bed and ran through to my room. He couldn’t believe his eyes. He said he had only been having me on.
We went downstairs and had breakfast. After breakfast I went back upstairs and looked in the jar. There was nothing in the jar. I looked behind the door. There was a big dragon. It was eating my bedspread. I picked up the dragon and put it in the boot of Dad’s car.
I drove down the road to the President of the United States of America. He offered me $2,000,000 and two gold bars. When I got home I picked up Dad and we went shopping for the rest of the week.
