Heartening hockey win

NZPA London New Zealand’s biiild-up for the men’s world hockey cup began in the right direction yesterday with a clear-cut 4-1 win over Scotland in Dundee. The team’s manager, Kevin Towns, said that although his side’s performance in the second half was lacklustre, “for a first international it was a pretty good result.”

“We started very well and led, 3-1, at half-time. The second half fell away a bit with the players making many mistakes. I think we sat on our lead a bit too gently,” he said. Peter Daji scored two goals after combining with Peter Miskimmin and the other two goals were scored by Grant McLeod from penalty corners.
