Third clinic for family planning
The Christchurch Family Planning Association will open a third clinic on Monday. The opening of the clinic, at 421 Durham Street, will mean more room at the association clinic in Montreal Street. The other family-plan-ning clinic is in Aranui. The new clinic would offer clinical, counselling, and educational services in a “more informal atmosphere,” said the association’s education officer, Ms Sue Billing.
Staff and services had not been increased, only
space, she said. At present, the association sees 3000 patients each month and at least another 500 people use the education services. About 60 mostly parttime staff — doctors, nurses, clerical staff, counsellors, and educators — work in the clinics, and there is a full-time director. All new patients and some old patients would be seen at the new clinic, said Ms Billing. The telephone number is the same as that of the Montreal Street clinic — 790-514.
