BEN DUNCAN,
of Nelson It was silent and still in the mouse-house underneath Farmer Brown’s bedroom floor. Then Farmer Brown stamped into the room full of anger and rage. He muttered something under his breath and lay down on his bed. Because of the noise mother and father mouse woke up. They wondered what on earth he was doing crashing around up . there. Mother and father mouse looked out of the peep-hole. They saw
Farmer Brown on his bed still wearing his muddy boots. Then they saw his footprints on the floorboards and the cranky old door still open. They scuttled across the creaky old floor and went into the kitchen and looked for some crumbs, but found nothing. Then something was heard by father mouse. They went back into the bedroom and found it was . only Farmer", Brown’s alarm clock going off. So they went back to the mouse-house and fell fast asleep.
