More mayhem from Norris

By

DAVID WILSON

“INVASION U.S.A.” Starring Chuck Norris, Richard Lynch, Melissa Prophet, Alexander Zale, Alex Colon. Directed by Joseph Zito. RCA-Colum-bia Hoyts. 107 min. R. A trail of bloodshed and mayhem is clearly becoming Chuck Norris’ movie trademark. “Invasion U.S.A.” is no exception as the director.

Joseph Zito, guides this unstoppable hero through another 107 minutes of non-stop gunfire and explosion. The scene is set as a wave of terror sweeps across the United States. Citizens are shot dead and bombs explode in crowded shopping malls. Families are not safe in their own homes or in church.

It is all part of a plan to bring American democracy to its knees — a plan masterminded by the merciless foreign agent, Mikal Rostov. Only one man can stop him. You’ve guessed it; it’s Chuck Norris (alias Matt Hunter).

The very mention of Hunter’s name sends Rostov into a cold sweat. A previous encounter with

the American saviour has left Rostov with a consuming fear of his adversary that manifests itself in' terrifying nightmares. “Hunter must die before the next operation,” he decrees. But when Rostov brings the war to Hunter’s doorstep our hero fights back with a vengeance. The battle for the continent becomes an explosive combat between the two men, with plenty

of blood and bullets. This story by Aaron Norris rattles along at a good pace, but it is a dead certainty that the author did not stay up late working on the dialogue. Do not let that put you off this movie; it is chilling to have brought home so dramatically just how susceptible democracy is. Is this story so far removed from reality, you will have to ask yourself.
