Sir Robert on TV ad
Wellington reporter The former Prime Minister, Sir Robert Muldoon, will appear in a television commercial, endorsing garden products. Sir Robert accepted an offer from the Christchurch advertising agency of Carlton-Carruthers du Chateau to make a commercial for Sabco Garden Products. It will be filmed
in Christchurch on Monday. Sir Robert said yesterday that he had rejected past approaches to make commercials, but had accepted this one because he was satisfied that the product was worth promoting. “I have been approached from time to
time by various people and mostly I have refused because I wouldn’t be involved with anything unless I was happy, from my own knowledge, that it should be promoted.” The agency said Sir Robert’s reputation as a keen gardener and as an authority on lilies made him a perfect choice for
the commercial. ‘ The 30-second commercial will be screened in November. Sir Robert declined to comment on whether his part in the television commercial might be incompatible with his standing as a former Prime Minister and present member of Parliament.
