Liver problem not yet identified
PA Invercargill Initial tests in London on the Otautau liver transplant patient, Tracy Holmes, aged 11, have not identified the cause of a setback she suffered three weeks ago, but have discounted that it was a serious bile problem.
The Otautau Lions Club publicity officer, Mr Stuart Manson, said yesterday after speaking to her father, Mr Gary Holmes, that Tracy’s liver appeared to be functioning normally.
This was a source of some relief to her parents as it could have been a serious problem. Tracy’s doctors now believe a form of viral infection might be responsible for her setback, and this could be confirmed when the results of her latest blood tests come back from a London laboratory later this week.
