Hika Reid injured

PA Dunedin The Ail Black hooker, Hika Reid, will miss Bay of Plenty’s national championship rugby match against Otago at Carisbrook tomorrow because of injury.

He will be in the reserves, but Bay of Plenty is fortunate that it can call on Wayne Ranui, a New Zealand Maoris representative, to take over the hooking duties.

Reid’s absence means that both teams will be without their No. 1 hookers because Ken Bloxham will not be considered after suffering concussion in the Ranfurly Shield challenge against Auckland.

Frank Shelford will captain the Bay of Plenty side which according to its coach, Gary Jones, is desperate for championship points after its loss to Canterbury.
