New pro-am in circuit
A tournament at Rawhiti, instead of at Waitikiri, is the only significant change to the Canterbury pro-am golf minicircuit which starts, as usual, with the Avondale event on Saturday. The circuit, which attracts about 30 professionals including several accomplished North Island players, has prize money of $24,500, with each of the pro-ams worth $3500. Waitikiri has foregone its regular pro-am this year to allow the course
an uninterrupted preparation for the South Island inter-provincial tournament on October 4 and 5. The Rawhiti tournament will end the week-long circuit.
The order of the proams is:— September 20, at Avondale; September 22, at Weedons; September 23, at Windsor; September 24, at Russley; September 25, Canterbury Surf Life-Saving tournament at Avondale; September 26, Braille tournament at Templeton; September 27, at Rawhiti.
