Claudio has first Australian win
By
ALEX McMILLANd
The former North Can-terbury-trained galloper, Claudio, scored his first win in Australia recently. The Beaufort Sea gelding, a winner of one race from the stable of the Balcairn trainer, John Parsons, was purchased earlier this year by Pyne, Gould, Guinness, Ltd on behalf of the recently established Perth-based company, Global Bloodstock.
Claudio’s win, at his third attempt in Australia, was scored in a 1650 m graduation event at Belmont Park, Perth. The chestnut, now trained in Perth by Rick Ridley, started favourite at odds of 5 to 2: The Global Bloodstock company has also purchased several standardbreds in New Zealand recently, the most notable being the promising Clever Innocence filly, Clever Win.
