H SHELL BP AND TODD OIL SERVICES LIMITED COMPUTER OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR Shell BP and Todd Oil Services Limited is responsible for the operation of the onshore Kapuni and offshore Maui gas/condensate fields in Taranaki. The Company has a substantial computing facility at its Head Office in New Plymouth supporting wide ranging Technical and Commercial applications based upon multiple HP3oooand 1000 Computers. This, coupled with operational links to large IBM environments both in New Zealand and overseas has resulted in a large portfolio of information systems being developed in Cobol and Fortran. The emphasis for current and future planning is distributed interactive systems using 4th generation languages and D.B.M.S. The COMPUTER OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR will be responsible for the smooth operation of all the Company's computing hardware including its data communications network. This involves supervision of the operating and data entry staff, installation of hardware monitoring of the Help Desk and control of all computing consumables. Applicants should have previous experience as a Senior Operator, preferably with either Hewlett Packard or VAX. However a comprehensive training programme will be provided to the successful candidate if required. This is a permanent staff position with access to the Shell Contributory Pension Scheme.
